It’s official: Y2K is back. From skinny brows to low rise jeans, noughties nostalgia is back with a vengeance. It’s not all dubious fashion trends though. The 00s also gave us some of the finest hits in modern times. And for that, we salute you, noughties. Read on, and find out which songs have made the cut in our Top 40 Best 00s Karaoke Songs list.

 

 

  1. Panic! At The Disco – I Write Songs Not Tragedies

 

We’re kicking off our Best 00s Karaoke Songs with a certified banger and karaoke favoute, ‘I Write Songs Not Tragedies’ by Panic! At The Disco. It wasn’t just this song that captured the zeitgeist. Frontman Pete Wentz’ eyeliner heavy, spiky haired look also became synonymous with the MySpace era aesthetic.

Before TikTok became a global phenomenon and everyone’s favourite app, it was a song by none other than… Kesha! Pop star? Check. Prophet who is able to predict the future? Check.

Kelly Clarkson’s ‘Since U Been Gone’ is not only one of the greatest hits of the noughties that helped launch the American Idol alumni to superstardom, but it’s also one of the greatest break up anthems of all time. Sing it loud!

Shakira, Shakira! ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ comes in at number 4 on our Best 00s Karaoke Songs list. For this hit, the Queen of Colombian pop teamed up with none other than Wyclef Jean for a Latin infused pop banger.

One of the defining girlbands of the 00s, The Pussycat Dolls had us all tearing hamstrings as we tried to slutdrop as effortlessly as Nicole et al. ‘Stickwitu’ is our pick for our Best 00s Karaoke Songs list.

The 00s was the decade that Mother Monster cemented her role as pop music icon. Before she was an Oscar nominated actress, she was responsible for some of the greatest hits of that era, including number 7 on our Best 00s Karaoke Songs list, ‘Poker Face’.

It’s Britney, B*tch! The indisputable queen of the noughties, Britney had hit after hit after hit in the halcyon Y2K days. With soaring synths and an iconic music video to boot, we’re picking ‘Toxic’ for our Best 00s Karaoke Songs list.

 

  1. Nickelback – How You Remind Me

 

Lighters up, it’s time for a rock anthem now. ‘How You Remind Me’ is classic Nickelback and classic 00s.

 

10. Alexandra Burke – Hallelujah

The 2000s were peak era for TV singing contestants becoming bona fide pop stars. From American Idol to Deutschland Sucht Den Superstar, there was a practically a show for every country. Number 10 in our Best 00s Karaoke Songs list goes to Alexandra Burke, winner of the fifth series of X Factor in 2005.

Next up in our Best 00s Karaoke Songs is ‘Party In The USA’. When Miley’s hair was still long, and before she’d stripped off and swung around wildly on a wrecking ball, she gifted us with this party anthem.

Another indisputable noughties icon, Christina Aguilera’s sweet, soulful song ‘Beautiful’ is a joy to sing, and with such a positive message. It gets the thumbs up from us! And makes it onto our Best 00s Karaoke Songs list.

 

16. Kylie Minogue – Can’t Get You Out Of My Head

It’s Kylie! No, not she-of-filled-lips fame, Jenner. We’re talking about the ORIGINAL Kylie, Kylie Minogue. ‘Can’t Get You Out Of My Head’ brought in a whole new era for the pint sized pop princess. And with lyrics like ‘La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la’, everyone in the whole karaoke party can sing along!

 

17. Toploader – Dancing in the Moonlight

Number 17 in our Best 00s Karaoke Songs list is Toploader with their global feel-good hit, ‘Dancing In The Moonlight’.

 

18. *NSYNC – Bye Bye Bye

The 00s were the era when we said ‘Bye Bye Bye’ to *NSYNC (see what we did there?) and ‘Hi Hi Hi’ to the solo career of Justin Timberlake.

 

19. Estelle feat. Kanye West – American Boy

Before Kanye was one half of soon-to-be-disbanded power couple Kimye, he was coupling up with Estelle on their catchy pop bop ‘American Boy’.

 

20. Natasha Bedingfield – Unwritten

Take a beat. You’re halfway through our Best 00s Karaoke Songs list. And who better to mark the moment with, than British pop songstress Natasha Bedingfield.

21. Kid Cudi – Day ‘N’ Night

Could we have a Best 00s Karaoke Songs list without having at least one song that wasn’t released via MySpace? We think not. That’s why number 21 on our Best 00s Karaoke Songs list goes out to Kid Cudi for his smash hit (and MySpace original) ‘Day ‘N’ Night’.

You know what’s ‘So Sick’? Our Best 00s Karaoke Songs list (if we do say so ourselves). Just kidding. In at number 30 is Ne-Yo with his 2009 hit.

31. Lady Gaga – Bad Romance

Okay Gaga can have a second spot too in our Best 00s Karaoke Songs list. With so many hits in that decade it was hard to pick a favourite, but someone’s gotta do the job! In at number 31 is ‘Bad Romance’.

 

32. The Kooks – Naive

Another one for the #indiesleaze category, The Kooks were a staple of 00s pop/rock, and the MySpace profile tracks for legions of teens the world over.

 

33. Enrique Inglesias – Hero

Crooner Enrique Inglesias comes in at number 33 on our Best 00s Karaoke Songs list for his uber romantic opus, ‘Hero’.

 

34. Wheatus – Teenage Dirtbag

Give it up for Wheatus with their Loser Anthem ‘Teenage Dirtbag’, which also featured in the opening titles of the 2000 Jason Biggs and Mena Suvari rom-com, Loser.

 

35. Evanscence – Bring Me To Life

Phew! We have just five more songs to go on our Best 00s Karaoke Songs list, and you better believe we’ve saved the best till last. For the rock-operatic amongst you, we’ve included ‘Bring Me To Life’ by emo rock pioneers Evanescence.

 

36. Plain White T’s – Hey There Delilah

In at number 36 on our Best 00s Karaoke Songs list is ‘Hey There Delilah’, a modern classic by American pop rockers Plain White T’s. Released in 2006, it’s a song that depicts the hope and struggles of a long-distance relationship. Out to all the long-distance lovers out there!

 

37. Justin Timberlake – Sexy Back

JT, Trousersnake, call him what you will, Justin Timberlake is a poster child for Y2K. What better track to include in our Best 00s Karaoke Songs list than ‘Sexy Back’. A sultry pop number which officially declared him a new man post *NSYNC.

The video that birthed the concept of sending texts via Microsoft Excel on a Blackberry (spoiler alert: it didn’t take off), Nelly and Kelly’s ‘Dilemma’ has stood the test of Y2K and is still a firm favourite today.
